CENOTE ESMERALDA
Cenote means in Mayan "hole with water" and they are natural formations in depressions or valleys that have been flooded. Most of them are interconnected and reach the sea.
There are many types, mainly limestone and in Yucatan it is estimated that there are 8,000 cenotes.
Esmeralda is the shallowest cenote in the area (60 m) and although it is not particularly recommended for swimming, it is possible to dive in it.
